A house and office built at the end of the T-shaped road. The presence of tunnel-shaped concrete creates a sense of openness and enveloping comfort, no matter where you are.
都市住宅において、建築に自然や風景を取り込むことを重要なテーマと考えている。そこで今回、空間それ自体が、気持ちよく過ごせる屋外のような場所の在り方を考えてみた。
敷地はT字路の突きあたりにある。あたかも十字路があるかのようにハーフトンネル状に建物をくりぬくことで、トンネルの下側は道路と連続し、路地のような場所になっている。
トンネルの横孔を抜けると、中庭上空から光が注ぐ場所に出る。見上げると、宙に吊られた鉄の床と、空間を映し出す薄いテーブルが浮かんでいるため、屋外にいるような不思議な広がりを感じることができる。
ここを訪ねた知人が「トンネルの下側も上側も、内部にいながらも常に屋外にいるような裏切りの感覚がある」と感想を伝えてくれた。
Incorporating nature and scenery into urban homes is an important theme for us. This project explores how interior spaces can function as comfortable environments with an open-air atmosphere.
The lot sits at the back of a T intersection, but a half-tunnel-shaped structure on one side of the house creates the illusion of a four-way intersection. The floor of the tunnel links to the existing road and forms an alley-like space.
Passing through an opening in the wall of this tunnel, one emerges into an area flooded with light from an inner courtyard. Looking up reveals an iron floor suspended mid-air and the underside of a thin table that reflects the surroundings; the result is a peculiar sense of expansiveness similar to what one might feel outdoors. One visitor put the feeling this way: “The whole time I was inside, whether above or below the tunnel structure, I felt as if I was actually outside – as if the house had tricked me.”
